The Use of Erotic Literature in Sexoanalysis: Case Study of a Woman With Hypoactive Sexual Desire
(Please refer to the French version for the complete article)

Julie Côté Rousseau M.A.

Although theoretically prescriptions are not part of the sexoanalytical process, can we use erotic literature to treat women with hypoactive sexual desire undergoing sexoanalysis? Can it be pertinent to suggest reading erotic literature to women whose erotic imagery remains mostly inaccessible even when using guided fantasy exploration techniques (Lévesque, 2005)? In the present case vignette, the use of erotic literature seems to have reduced the client’s feelings of guilt associated to sexual desire and allowed access to elements of her latent erotic fantasies. This article addresses erotic literature as a therapeutic tool.
